Yes, this is our fourth consecutive drought year. Not ready to say that this is due to global warming as our weather always has variances. For instance, 1881 was likely the driest year on record, ’24-’26 were the three driest uninterrupted years, ‘76-’77 were the two driest successive years, and ’88-’92 were the 5 driest consecutive years. While, the rain data is not complete for this year, I will unequivocally claim that this is my warmest winter in 31 years living in North Tahoe. And, yet, I have had 10 days of excellent skiing. Go figure!!
Our real estate market is similar to last years’ with the continued upward trend. During the winter months in the resort community of Tahoe Donner:
Cabins/Residences
Year Units Sold Avg. Sales Price
2014 29 $606,000
2015 26 $695,000
While in the resident community of Glenshire:
Cabins/Residences
Year Units Sold Avg. Sales Price
2014 11 $418,000
2015 11 $451,000
Looks like values continue to climb even though the number of units sold remains level. If you would like me to be specific for your community, please contact me.
